Orthodoxy in the Chinese Diaspora in the Amur region: a marker of Russian identity and a factor in intercultural communication

The article examines the current state of Orthodoxy among Chinese university students in the Amur Region as the most dynamic and interculturally receptive segment of the Chinese diaspora. Based on a survey of Chinese students (n=110) and interviews with clergy, the study identifies the features of Chinese migrants' perception of Orthodoxy. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of adopting Orthodoxy as a marker of Russian identity and the role of intercultural communication in shaping religious ideas. The novelty of the research lies in a comprehensive analysis of the bicultural self-identification of Orthodox Chinese in the Amur Region based on empirical data from 2026. It is concluded that Orthodoxy in the consciousness of Chinese students acts not only as a confession but also as a symbolic marker of belonging to Russian culture, without entailing a rejection of traditional Chinese values.
Key words: Orthodoxy, Chinese diaspora, Amur Region, Russian identity, intercultural communication, Chinese students, biculturalism.

Zen and psychoanalysis: principles of applied religious studies and practical approaches

Zen and psychoanalysis represent autonomous teleological spheres that offer solutions to the everyday existence of the individual and employ principles of applied religious studies for their attainment. The condition for their establishment as independent fields lies in their operational principles, which are linked to the deep structures of social and individual life, including archetypal symbolism, religious psychology, transcendent intuition, the “double bottom” of culture, and the collective unconscious.
The aim this article is to analyze the typological aspect of Zen and psychoanalysis in relation to their autonomy, thereby elucidating the role, significance, and value of applied religious studies and psychology in general, as well their influence on practical approaches to everyday existence.
Key words: Zen, psychoanalysis, principle, applied religious studies.

From unification to religious diversity: religious relations in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century

The article examines the policy of the Russian state in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to strengthen the spiritual influence of the dominant confession, the Orthodox Church, on the life of society, given the growing social weight and political influence of non-Orthodox and non-Ortho-dox confessions in the Russian Empire. The rationale for this policy in the national and religious context is based on the belief that the more homogeneous a country is in terms of its religious makeup, and the fewer non-Orthodox elements it contains, the more stable it is in terms of internal peace. As a result of this view, the rights of national and religious minorities were restricted, which had the opposite effect of stimulating anti-state nationalist and separatist sentiments that led to political uprisings. The 1903-1906 Revolution brought these issues to the forefront. Subsequent reforms in state-religious relations.
Key words: state-confessional relations, Russian Orthodox Church, multi-confessional state, religious reforms, freedom of faith, national-religious issue, Russification.

Social interaction in search of lost time

This article explores social interaction in the context of contemporary transformations associated with digitalization, environmental challenges, and the increasing complexity of the temporal structure of society. The authors substantiate the need to move from traditional socio-economic dimensions to an analysis of the "fabric" of social interaction as a multidimensional phenomenon that includes not only actional exchanges but also historical memory, environmental responsibility, and temporal rhythms. Particular attention is paid to the idea of "searching for lost time" as a social practice. In this vein, three main dimensions are distinguished: the ecological dimension, which forms a platform for new solidarity; the historical-reconstructive dimension, which restores broken continuity; and the temporal dimension, which reveals the pluralism of social speeds and rhythms. It is concluded that social interaction is not a background phenomenon, but an independent entity of social life; its continuous monitoring becomes a condition for maintaining the integrity of society in an era of turbulence. The article draws on an extensive body of work on social ecology, temporal studies, and historical reconstruction.
Key words: social interaction, social time, temporal pluralism, tempoworlds, environmental education, social ecology, historical reconstruction, social fabric, lost time, markers of social stratification.

Theoretical and methodological boundaries of the concept of “maximum wage” in the sociology of markets

The article reinterprets the economic nature of remuneration through the lens of the behavioral strategies of hired workers. Against the backdrop of the degradation of rigid wage scales and the dominance of contractual agreements, the authors develop the concept of “marginal wage.” This category is interpreted as a flexible social variable indicating a personal critical minimum, beyond which employment is abandoned. The paper distinguishes between the concepts of subjectively expected and maximum permissible earnings, and models the destructive effects of forced hiring, including hidden opportunism and uncontrolled staff turnover. Based on a multi-criteria approach, a compensatory mechanism is substantiated that links the monetary aspirations of job seekers with the social quality of the work environment. The analytical frameworks proposed by the authors enable HR departments to proactively diagnose hidden sources of tension in teams and to flexibly design balanced employment contracts in the non-tariff sector of the economy.
Key words: marginal wage, social variable, contractual employment, labor sociology, labor opportunism, transaction costs.

Synthesis of structural-functional and thesaurus approaches in the analysis of corporate youth policy: model development and pilot empirical illustration

The article proposes an integrative model of corporate youth policy that combines structural-functional and thesaurus approaches. A pilot case study of young employees of JSC Russian Railways shows that adaptation, mentoring and career development mechanisms are effective only when formal institutions are aligned with the value expectations of young workers.
Key words: youth policy, corporate environment, structural-functional approach, thesaurus approach, social management, organizational integration, value orientations of youth, personnel reproduction, industrial railway complex.

Transformation of the motivational structure of generation Z in the labor market: challenges for management sociology

The article examines the processes of transformation of the value-motivational core of young workers belonging to Generation Z (the “Zoomers”) in the context of the tasks and challenges of modern management sociology. Based on interdisciplinary analysis and the synthesis of data from sociological monitoring studies, a profound shift in priorities is identified – from rigid pragmatic incentives (the instrumental type) to flexible social benefits, autonomy, and value-oriented employment. The author substantiates the deficiency of classical hierarchical management models in relation to “digital natives”. The key management innovations are outlined, including the introduction of horizontal communication, ecosystem-based HR branding, and gamified engagement formats that are appropriate to the new social reality.
Key words: management sociology, Generation Z, work motivation, value orientations, labor market, employee engagement, management practices.

Alienistics: artificial intelligence and extraterrestrial intelligence

The authors of the article address one of the fundamental problems: the problem of the relationship between artificial intelligence and extraterrestrial intelligence. The article asserts the equivalence of artificial intelligence and extraterrestrial intelligence for cognition of human consciousness. Extraterrestrial intelligence is something pathological for humans that goes beyond human logic, something fundamentally new. Through extraterrestrial intelligence, it becomes possible to know human strengths and weaknesses. Artificial intelligence performs a similar function in relation to the human mind. The authors conclude that the problem of artificial intelligence is equivalent to the problem of another mind and possible contact with extraterrestrial civilizations. The traditional approach to these problems carries the same mistakes: it is assumed that a strong artificial intelligence will be similar to a human, almost become a copy of a human, and in space we will definitely encounter humanoids. The traditional approach is based on anthropocentrism and the thesis of the universality of human consciousness that follows from anthropocentrism. The authors of the article believe that this thesis is erroneous, since human consciousness is not the only one, but only one of the possible forms of consciousness in the universe. The development of numerous variants of artificial intelligence is also the fallacy of the thesis about the universality of human consciousness. Extraterrestrial intelligence and artificial intelligence are necessary for human self-knowledge. Non-anthropomorphic intelligences think differently from humans and are able to help solve complex problems such as quantum gravity, dark energy, etc., where a different type of intelligence is required.
Key words: alienistics, xenology, Alien, artificial intelligence, non-humanoid types of consciousness, Kant, Yuk Khuey.

The genesis of concepts of tradition in social and philosophical thought

In an era of rapid social transformation, when globalization and modernization are eroding established value orientations, addressing the phenomenon of tradition acquires not only theoretical but also acute practical significance for society. This article examines the genesis of concepts of tradition in social and philosophical thought. It examines the transformation of ideas about tradition, tracing the transition from its understanding as the foundation of social order and continuity to its radical revision in the modern and postmodern eras. The paper identifies the main stages of this genesis: from a mythologized and hierarchical perception of tradition, fulfilling the function of preserving cultural identity, to its demythologization and secularization in modern times. Unlike the hermeneutic tradition, which strives for preservation and unity with the past, the genealogical approach considers a break with tradition as a condition for the liberation of thought. The article substantiates the conclusion that in the modern era, tradition is being reconsidered in the context of postmodern concepts, leading to the emergence of a post-traditional state of sociality characterized by anti-hierarchy and openness to new forms of mythologization.
Key words: genesis, tradition, socio-philosophical thought, concepts, social philosophy.

The materiality of blue paper: sources, terminology, and interpretation of artistic choice

This article examines hand-made blue paper as an independent object of historical, artistic, and technological research. The exposition is structured along several thematic lines: the terminological difficulties encountered in describing blue paper; the technological options for its production; the range of available sources ‒ from early treatises to modern instrumental methods of analysis; and, finally, a separate historical and artistic episode ‒ the turn of Venetian draughtsmen to blue paper around 1500. The author proceeds from the premise that artistic materials and techniques carry meaning no less significant than iconography or style, and therefore deserve equally careful and methodologically rigorous consideration. Combining visual analysis, instrumental data, the experience of practical reconstruction of historical technologies, and close examination of the objects themselves, the author challenges the simplistic economic interpretation of the choice of blue paper and proposes a more layered reading that takes into account the availability of the material, the technical qualities of the sized surface, and the aesthetic demands of the new oil painting.
Key words: blue paper, history of paper, Venetian drawing, materiality, restoration, quattrocento, Giovanni Bellini, rag raw material, dyes.

Regional specifics of paper production in Kaluga governorate at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries: technical equipment, penalty policy and social standards in comparative perspective

Based on a wide range of archival sources, primarily the materials of the factory inspectorate from the State Archive of Kaluga Oblast, as well as published statistical data and legislative acts of the Russian Empire, this article examines the regional specificity of paper production in Kaluga Governorate at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries. The authors analyse the technical equipment of the enterprises, labour organisation, the system of fines, social infrastructure, and wage levels at the factories of W. Howard and D.D. Goncharov, comparing them with all-Russian and district indicators. Stable distinguishing features of the Kaluga enterprises are identified: exceptional concentration of production, pioneering character in the introduction of machine technologies, precedence over all-Russian legislation in terms of working hours (an eight-hour shift already in the 1890s) and the age threshold for hiring (admission from the age of 15, as against the all-Russian norm of 10 years), the development of social infrastructure (hospitals, schools, libraries, baths, a people's house), as well as a radical difference in fining policy ‒ penalties at the Kaluga factories were tens of times lower than all-Russian indicators (1.8 kopecks per 100 roubles of earnings, as against 70 kopecks in Moscow Governorate and 20 kopecks on average nationwide). On this basis, it is concluded that paper production in the Kaluga region represented a distinctive phenomenon of Russian industrialisation, combining technological leadership, advanced social policy, and a system of labour relations oriented towards skilled workers. The authors also substantiate the non-representativeness of averaged all-Russian data and the necessity of studying each enterprise in its specificity for an adequate understanding of regional industrial dynamics. The results of the research can be used in the development of problems in regional and sectoral labour history, as well as in museum, local history and tourism activities in Kaluga Oblast.
Key words: Kaluga province, paper industry, factory legislation, labor history, social infrastructure, fine policy, Troitsko-Kondrovsky factories of V. Howard, Polotnyano-Zavodskaya paper mill, Russian industrialization, late 19th – early 20th centuries.

Application of inclusive design in digital space

The article examines inclusive design as an approach to designing a digital environment that ensures the accessibility of interfaces for users with various abilities. The aim of the study is to determine the impact of inclusive design solutions on user engagement and to assess the degree to which current practices meet the requirements for digital accessibility. The study is based on an analysis of international and Russian regulatory documents, industry studies, and publications on the topic. It has been established that, despite the development of the regulatory framework, the level of accessibility of the web environment remains insufficient. It is concluded that inclusive design is not only a tool for social integration but also a factor in increasing the effectiveness of digital products.
Key words: inclusive design, digital accessibility, user interface, WCAG, assistive technologies, digital divide.

Exhibition activities of the Khabarovsk branch of the Union of Soviet Artists in the 1940s–1950s

The article examines the exhibition activities of the Khabarovsk branch of the Union of Soviet Artists from the moment of its formation (1939) to its incorporation into a larger regional association (the Far Eastern zone, 1960). Based on archival documents, the author analyses the development of the local art school and the influence of political, economic, and ideological factors on it. Particular attention is paid to the contradiction between “programmatic” thematic painting, dictated by ideological considerations, and landscape art reflecting the distinctive character of Far Eastern nature and everyday life.
Key words: Union of Artists, exhibition activities, socialization of art, ideology, thematic painting, Far Eastern art school, poster.

The study of socio-cultural wall symbols in a regional context

This article examines the regional features of socio-cultural symbols of wall art against the background of modern Chinese urban space. In recent years, wall culture in Chinese public spaces has pursued the main goal of displaying regional features and has gradually become a visual symbol that carries local historical memory, strengthens community identity and promotes social values. From the point of view of semiotics and social culture, the works of various regions of China are analyzed and it is revealed how wall art participates in the formation of regional culture, the unification of collective emotions and the reproduction of spatial meaning. An ideal wall symbol should provide a dynamic balance between political narrative and popular expression, aesthetic unity and local differences.
Key words: sociocultural wall symbol, wall art, regional feature, regional identity.

Architectural motifs and images in the artistic language of the "red" poster from the period of the Russian Civil War

The purpose of the study is to identify architectural motifs and images in poster art from the period of the Russian Civil War of 1918-1922. The architectural metaphor in poster art was formed during the First World War and acquired special significance in Russia during the Civil War (a symbol of the enemy, a symbol of the Motherland, a symbol of the destructive power of war, a motive for protecting the values of national culture and the Fatherland, a motive for building a new one, a symbol of creation and peaceful life). The prototypes of poster compositions and individual images in both “red” and “white” posters traced back to icon painting and popular art iconography, caricature and satire, as well as to poster art from the period of the First World War. Avantgarde and constructivism had a significant influence on the visual language of the poster. The main features of the poster’s artistic language – expressiveness, conciseness, and simplicity – were combined with verbal language – with brief and understandable texts in slogans.
Key words: Civil War, poster art, architectural motif, interaction between verbal and artistic language, "friend or foe" dichotomy.

A study of ways to develop ethical competence of journalists and other specialists in the field of mass media in the context of the ideology and policy of educational programs

With the deepening of higher education reform, curriculum ideology and politics has become a key measure to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. In the field of journalism and communication, traditional professional ethics such as fake news and paid news, as well as emerging ethics brought about by new technologies such as deepfakes and public opinion manipulation, occur frequently, making the cultivation of professional ethical literacy for journalism and communication talent increasingly prominent. Based on a reflection on the current state of journalism and communication ethics education in China, this paper attempts to construct a trinity training framework of "value guidance – emotional identification – ability cultivation" and further proposes implementation paths such as optimizing course settings, innovating teaching methods, and improving teacher quality, aiming to provide some ideas for cultivating the moral literacy of journalism and media talents in China.
Key words: curriculum ideology and politics, Journalism and media, Talent cultivation, Moral literacy, Ethics education.

Cultural lacunae as the foundation for adulthood biculturalism development: a case study of the "small talk" phenomenon

The article examines the problem of adulthood biculturalism formation through the focus of the concept of cultural lacunae. Based on the analysis of classical acculturation models by S. Lysgaard and K. Oberg, it is argued that overcoming acculturation stress, in J. Berry's terminology, is a key condition for the development of a secondary worldview. The theoretical framework of the study relies on the thesaurus approach proposed by Val. A. Lukov and Y.M. Lotman's semiotic model of communication. The empirical basis is provided by the phenomenon of small talk - a ritualized conversation natural for English-speaking cultures. It is demonstrated that successful resolution of this lacuna through the transformation of an individual's thesaurus serves as a stabilizing element of adaptive transition and a necessary stage in the development of adulthood biculturalism. The findings can be applied to designing cross-cultural training programs for expatriates and educational routes for foreign language learners outside immersive environments.
Key words: cultural lacunae, adulthood biculturalism, acculturation, culture shock, small talk, thesaurus approach, cross-cultural communication.
