Synestesia as a philosophical problem

The article examines the phenomenon of synesthesia as a subject of philosophical reflection that goes beyond the narrow psychological or neurobiological approach. The evolution of ideas about synesthesia is traced. From ancient concepts of the unity of sensory perception (through romantic aesthetics and symbolism) to modern discussions in the analytical philosophy of consciousness and phenomenology. Special attention is paid to how the philosophical understanding of synesthesia allows us to revise the classical model of the "five senses", problematize the concept of qualia and offer a new understanding of the integrity of the subject of perception. The thesis is substantiated that synesthesia is a key phenomenon revealing the holistic nature of perceptual experience. Having a significant heuristic potential for epistemology, ontology and philosophical anthropology.
Key words: synesthesia, philosophy of perception, qualia, phenomenology, cross-modality, sensory synthesis, aesthetics, philosophy of consciousness, multisensory, corporeality.

Transformation of the aesthetic category "QI" within the framework of viola training in Chinese higher education institutions: from traditional worldview to modern performance interpretation

This article examines the changes in the perception of the aesthetic category of "Qi"—one of the most fundamental concepts of Daoist philosophy—within the context of training modern viola performers in higher music education institutions of the People's Republic of China. The evolution of the interpretation of this concept is analyzed from its origins in ancient Chinese natural philosophy to its modern stage of development. The study explores the mechanisms for integrating Western academic principles with national traditions. The paper emphasizes the significance of the "Qi" category as a bridge between Western technical mastery and Eastern philosophical interpretation. This article identifies specific nuances of the educational process in China’s modern music universities, primarily those related to the digitalization and humanization of education, which are aimed at developing an individual performing style and an aesthetic worldview in viola students. A comprehensive set of research methods was applied, including musicological, historical-cultural, comparative, and theoretical analysis. The research materials consist of a body of works by Chinese and Russian scholars in the fields of music education and aesthetics: dissertations and scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals over the past few years.
Key words: "Qi" category, Taoism, music education in China, viola training, performance interpretation, aesthetic education, intercultural dialogue, traditional worldview, music pedagogy.

The problems of incarnation and the disappearance of presence in the philosophy of Jean Baudrillard

The study examines the theological foundations of Jean Baudrillard’s philosophy and the problem of the disappearance of presence in contemporary culture. It analyzes the concept of simulation, including the categories of simulacrum, hyperreality, and the implosion of meaning, as well as their connection to the Christian ontology of incarnation. Particular attention is paid to how the rupture between sign and presence transforms the structure of reality and experience. The author argues that Baudrillard’s theory of simulation is not only a critique of media and representation, but also a diagnosis of the crisis of incarnation and the loss of real presence in contemporary culture.
Key words: embodiment, presence, simulacrum, simulation, hyperreality, symbolic exchange, secularization, disembodiment, Baudrillard, postmodernism.

Geopolitical factors of intercultural communication

The article aims to define basic geopolitical factors influencing the intercultural communication. The author considers the most significant concepts created in the framework of geopolitics, among them R. Kjellen’s theory of the dependence the state policy has on the geographic situation, H. Mackinder’s and N. Spickman’s theory of “heartland” and “rimland”, S. Kohen’s hierarchy of the geopolitical spaces. Then the cultural communications between “heartland” and “rimland” as well as the middle level geopolitical space are analyzed. The newness of the study is determined by defining the nature of the cultural contacts between geopolitical regions and their correlation with the multipolar structure of the world. It is concluded that geopolitical factors influence the intercultural communication significantly, however, it is often corrected by inner policy of the state and processes in economic and ideological areas. Besides that, the current situation is most adequately characterized not by “classical” H. Mackinder’s and N. Spickman’s geopolitics but by S. Kohen’s hierarchy of the geopolitical spaces, which on the whole correspondences with prevailing understanding of multipolarity.
Key words: geopolitical spaces, cultural contacts between geopolitical re-gions, “classical” H. Mackinder’s and N. Spickman’s geopolitics, S. Kohen’s hierarchy of the geopolitical spaces.

On the prospects of homo politicus in modern Russia: right-wing approach

The article aims to clarify the main possibilities of the realization of Homo politicus as a full-fledged political personality in modern Russian realities.
Owing to the transcendental approach, an attempt is being made to debunk false political consciousness, identify the dangers that hinder the formation of an internal political axiology, and model the best possible structure of society in which these dangers could be eliminated. The latter is considered to be a meritocratic system, taken in opposition to a democratic one.
Ultimately, Russian political personality is regarded in two modifications, i.e. as the basis of two complementary institutions – the civil society and the national elite. Special emphasis is placed on revealing the true nature of the citizenship and the leadership axiology in their Western traditional forms.
Key words: homo politicus, civil society, national elite, meritocracy, ideology, personality, value.

Harmony of words: philosophy of language culture formation in the mediacal era

This article presents a comprehensive study of the fundamental impact of language on human thinking, consciousness, and behavioral patterns in the modern digital age. The author examines this issue through the lens of the transformation of mass media and the total dominance of internet communications. The central thesis of the work is the loss of richness, expressiveness, and semantic depth of language in the face of the rapid spread of information flows, aggressive commercial advertising, and superficial, utilitarian methods of communication. Drawing on classical philosophical approaches and the works of Russian thinkers, the author emphasizes that language is not simply a means of transmitting information, but a complex mechanism for shaping a picture of the world. The article emphasizes the importance of understanding the deep meanings, cultural codes, and historical connotations inherent in words. It raises the need to cultivate a conscious, respectful attitude toward speech as the primary instrument of personal identification, a unique reflection of national identity, and a powerful means of expressing the spiritual strength of a people. Key principles for developing a high linguistic culture are proposed as a solution to this problem. These include careful attention to vocabulary selection, strict adherence to the traditions of Russian literature, and targeted work on developing clarity, consistency, and figurative expression. The author argues that in today's information environment, oversaturated with cliches and borrowings, a return to these foundations can preserve society's intellectual potential. In conclusion, the article presents readers with an urgent task: not only to theoretically understand the importance of proper language proficiency but also to formulate specific, practical ways to improve their speech culture. This is seen as a necessary step for preserving national identity and spiritual health in a globalizing world.
Key words: linguistic culture, standard, mass media, internet communications, cultural code, mass media, information environment, speech culture, national identity, globalization.

Socio-philosophical foundations of the legitimacy of political violence: a comparative analysis of approaches

This article compares key socio-philosophical concepts explaining the conditions under which political violence can be considered legitimate. The natural law, utilitarian, and contractualist traditions are analyzed, along with 20th-century critical theories (Marxism, critical theory, feminist philosophy, postcolonial studies). The problem of the relationship between moral requirements and political necessity in armed conflicts is examined. The author argues that an integrative approach, synthesizing different theoretical perspectives, makes it possible to develop more effective mechanisms to counter political violence.
Key words: political violence, legitimacy, natural law, utilitarianism, contractualism, Marxism, critical theory, morality, armed conflict, justice.

Modernization as a value innovation and a problem of Russian society

The article aims to define the main value contradictions arising in the process of modernization of Russian society and to consider modernization as a special type of value innovation. The author analyzes classical and modern theories of modernization, highlighting their value dimension, as well as examines the specifics of Russian civilizational identity, which acts as a factor transforming borrowed innovations. The novelty of the study lies in substantiating that successful modernization in Russia is possible not through simple copying of Western value patterns, but through their creative adaptation and the formation of synthetic value hybrids that correspond to the national cultural code. It is concluded that modernization as a value innovation faces deep cultural and anthropological limitations in Russian society; however, with a balanced strategy that takes into account both innovative and traditional values, it can become a driver of positive social development.
Key words: value innovations, modernization, Russian society, traditional values, cultural code, social philosophy, axiology.

The relevance of the ‘the abolition of man’: the ethical and philosophical ideas of C.S. Lewis in the context of the crisis of traditional values

Clive Staples Lewis is an English writer and Christian philosopher who spent his entire career addressing the ethical and moral issues of humanity. This article analyzes the philosophical context of the article “The Abolition of Man”: the role of man in the modern world, moral principles and Christian virtue on which man should rely in the daily activities viz. the key issues that are echoed in the author’s philosophical anthropology. In the opinion of the author of the essay, a way out of the moral crisis should be based on adhering to the principles of natural morality and values of Christian ideals. In this study, the issues of morality and education defined in the 1942 article are compared with contemporary realities. The complete influence of artificial intelligence on human life dislodges such moral categories as virtue, duty, conscience, dignity, kindness from his philosophy of life. The field of education, which today is influenced by digitalization, also needs to increase the human role in the educational process. These issues raised by C.S. Lewis in the last century take on an increasing importance.
Key words: humanization of education, moral code and ethics, moral values, moral principles, value system, humanity, moral choice.

Overcoming the alienation of the individual in V. Hugo's novel 'les misérables': toward a methodology of socio-philosophical analysis"

This article offers a philosophical analysis of Jean Valjean’s transformation in Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables through the lens of 20th-century Western philosophy. The subject of the study is the mechanism of overcoming the “vicious circle of trauma,” in which social alienation and distorted perception of reality become self-perpetuating. The methodological framework integrates the dialogical ontology of Martin Buber, the existentialism of Søren Kierkegaard and Jean-Paul Sartre, the poststructuralist analysis of power by Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben’s concept of homo sacer, and Emmanuel Levinas’s ethics of the Other.
The paper introduces the author’s metaphor of the Ouroboros (the serpent eating its own tail) to denote the pathological closure of a traumatized consciousness, in contrast to its Jungian interpretation. It is shown how disciplinary mechanisms reduce the protagonist to “bare life” (zoē) and objectify him in Buber’s mode of “I–It.” The analysis interprets Valjean’s encounter with Bishop Myriel as an event that breaks this circle. The Bishop enacts the “I–Thou” relation, performing an act of ontological recognition that, in Levinasian terms, responds to the call of the Face (visage). From an existentialist perspective, this encounter serves as a catalyst for an “authentic choice” and a “leap of faith,” overcoming “bad faith” (mauvaise foi) and despair.
The article concludes that Valjean’s transformation is not a passive change but an act of resistance against biopolitical exclusion, restoring subjectivity through dialogue with the Other and an orientation toward the Absolute. The proposed integrative approach can be applied to other social situations involving the overcoming of stigmatization and identity crises.
Key words: philosophy of literature, social philosophy, phenomenology of the Other, existentialism, poststructuralism, problem of identity, humanism and anti-humanism, ethics and morality.

Temporal transformations of education: the digital accelerator and the social price of time in the post-COVID era

This article provides a sociological analysis of the transformation of educational time in the context of accelerated digitalization. The authors examine time as a strategic social resource, the distribution of which exacerbates social inequality. A comparative analysis of the temporal characteristics of the pre-digital and digital eras in education is provided, identifying key changes: compression, fragmentation, and multiple learning paces, as well as the blurring of boundaries between personal and academic time. Drawing on H. Rosa's theories of acceleration, E. Giddens's structuration, and U. Beck's risk society, the concept of "temporal shock" as a consequence of the emergency transition to distance learning is substantiated. Particular attention is given to scenario-based forecasting of accelerated transitions in the future and their possible triggers (crises, disasters, technological breakthroughs). The article presents the experience of implementing a time management course at MADI, aimed at developing students' temporal intelligence. The article concludes that a transition to hybrid temporal learning modes and the creation of institutional mechanisms to protect against time overload are necessary, emphasizing that accelerating the digitalization of education should not become an end in itself.
Key words: sociology of time, digitalization of education, temporal resource, social inequality, temporal poverty, shock digitalization, hybrid learning, temporal intelligence, time management, foresight, risk society.

Incorporation of state personnel policy into the system of state strategic management: from the search for meaning to the sustainable amplification of new ideas

This article explores the concept of "public personnel policy" and its rethinking in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence. It is demonstrated that sustainable amplification enables the transformation of ineffective personnel policies into a system dominated by the continuous generation of new ideas, ensuring the transformation of public strategic management toward a proactive development model through effective staffing.
It is demonstrated that, despite the apparent paradox of a digital environment dominated by technology and artificial intelligence, the development vector of public personnel policy as the foundation of public strategic management is focused on human-centricity [candidate-centricity], recognizing the individual as the primary agent of long-term and sustainable development for the benefit of the individual and in their interests.
The underlying idea is that overcoming managerial anomalies in public strategic management is impossible solely through the introduction of new technologies. A qualitative intellectual shift is needed in the training of personnel for Russian public administration, a transition from executive function to subjective professionalism and responsibility, including a value-based commitment to public service and the public good.
The article substantiates the need for profound transformations in state personnel policy in the context of implementing Russia's national development goals through 2036 and within the system of measures to ensure the national security of the Russian state.
The article also substantiates the importance of focusing state personnel policy on a strategic perspective, emphasizing vision, analytics, continuity and tradition, values, continuous upgrading, a high level of expert knowledge, innovation, responsibility, and effectiveness.
The strategic vector of state personnel policy is outlined within the paradigm of forming a new public administration elite, developing young personnel with the actualization of historical education and talent management, strengthening traditional values, preserving ethnocultural diversity, and strengthening the professional and civic identity of personnel. The role of designing a modern system of personnel training in the conditions of external environmental turbulence, commensurate with the needs of ensuring technological leadership, socio-economic and spatial development and ensuring Russia's national security in the strategic horizon, is being updated.
Key words: state personnel policy as a strategy and its transformation in the digital environment, state strategic management, values, continuous upgrade, ethnocultural diversity, human-centeredness.

The projective state: concept, architecture, scientific foundation

The article presents the concept of a projective state, an emerging type of statehood in which the protection of the rights of future generations is embedded in the institutional architecture of government. The historical background, basic principles, institutional architecture, economic dimension and scientific foundation of the projective state are investigated. A comparative analysis is carried out with a social state, an ecological state and a planned economy of the Soviet type. The article presents the concept of a projective state as a logical next stage in the evolution of statehood, adding a temporal dimension to the existing functions of the state. The continuity of the concept in relation to the theory of the rule of law, institutional economics and the concept of sustainable development is shown. It is proved that the projective state is a natural stage of the evolution of statehood, and not an arbitrary construction. The project state is based on four traditions, therefore, the projective state does not invent a new reality, but synthesizes the achievements of several recognized scientific schools in relation to a new problem – the institutional protection of the rights of future generations. Based on the author's analysis of precedents, the patterns of institutional formation are formulated: the death test of the founder, the five conditions of survival (autonomy, legitimacy, resource, adaptivity, reproduction), the paradox of rigidity, adaptive rigidity, the law of institutional entropy. The publication of the article invites readers to further discussion with the author.
Key words: projective state, temporal sovereignty, prescript, transgenerational expertise, intergenerational justice, Negentropic Development Index, prescriptology, projective realism, prescriptive council, temporal institutions.

Artificial intelligence in sociology: methodological breakthrough or threat to validity?

The article examines how artificial intelligence is changing sociological research, from the processing of interviews and open-ended survey responses to the analysis of digital traces, online communities and predictive models. The focus is not only on the technical efficiency of AI, but also on the methodological risks that arise when algorithmic results are treated as ready-made sociological knowledge. AI can reveal recurring themes, hidden links and weak signals in large datasets, yet it cannot by itself explain the social meaning of these patterns. Drawing on Russian and international examples, the article discusses algorithmic bias, loss of contextual sensitivity, misinterpretation of digital traces and the illusion of machine objectivity. The main conclusion is that AI should not be viewed as a replacement for the sociologist. Its strongest role is within hybrid research designs, where algorithms broaden the field of observation while the researcher remains responsible for the research question, data validation and interpretation.
Key words: artificial intelligence, sociology, big data, algorithmic bias, digital methods, social forecasting, AI ethics, machine learning, data validity.

Methodological foundations of analytical study of social transformations

The existence of society manifests itself in various aspects of social reality. One of these aspects is the social institutions that are organized to regulate relations in various areas of existence. As a result of these processes, these elements undergo transformations due to changing external conditions. The complexity of the nature of the emergence and mechanisms of development of social transformations determines the specifics of their study. This is reflected in a set of theoretical views that are combined into approaches. These approaches express the specific interpretation of the identified issues. The methods of cognition formed on this basis contribute to the objective selection of significant parameters. The methods formed on their basis contribute to the objective identification of significant parameters. The relevant aspects of the existence and development of institutional transformations contribute to the organization of conceptual frameworks for their analysis. This allows you to organize the logic you use and, if necessary, expand the set and content of the methods you use.
Key words: social institutions, transformations, analysis, methodology, aspects of functioning, development mechanisms, and research logic.

This article examines the origins of the Soviet poster as an art form. It is proposed to trace the history of the word "poster" in Russia from the time of Peter the Great to the 20s of the twentieth century. An extensive historical look at the meaning of the word "poster" and its modification over time is offered. Historical information about the precursors of the Russian poster is given. It talks about the influence of French masters on the formation of the artistic poster and the emergence of a new type of graphic art in Russia, which became possible with the advent of lithography. The article also identifies the main prerequisites for the emergence of the Soviet poster and reflects information about the development of this type of fine art during the Civil war and at the beginning of the formation of the Soviet state. The role of splint images in the formation of poster art is shown. The emphasis is placed on the artistic techniques and practices of the Soviet poster, formed and embedded in the canvas of the current events of the era and which were an essential tool for constructive communicative interaction. The focus is on the emergence of key poster dogmas from Peter the Great to Mayakovsky and Rodchenko, as well as the poster itself as the foundation of the state's artistic agitation.

Aesthetic categories of the Chinese tradition in the context of Islamic calligraphy

The article examines the aesthetic categories of the Chinese artistic tradition in the context of Islamic calligraphy in China. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing scholarly interest in transnational artistic practices and the insufficient exploration of the aesthetic foundations of Chinese Islamic calligraphy, which is more often analyzed from historical or decorative perspectives. The purpose of the research is to identify the role of Chinese aesthetic categories in shaping the visual and plastic specificity of Islamic calligraphy in China. The research materials include works on Chinese aesthetics, calligraphy theory, Islamic art, and the visual culture of China. The methodological framework is based on comparative-typological, formal-stylistic, semiotic, and cultural approaches. The study demonstrates that Chinese Islamic calligraphy constitutes an independent artistic system formed through the interaction of Arabic and Chinese artistic traditions. The influence of the categories of harmony, emptiness, rhythm, naturalness, and “living movement” on composition, line structure, and spatial organization of the calligraphic text is revealed. It is proved that artistic syncretism manifests itself not only at the formal level but also in the transformation of artistic thinking. The article concludes that a distinctive visual language emerged through the synthesis of the Islamic sign tradition and the aesthetic principles of Chinese art.
Key words: Chinese Islamic calligraphy, Chinese aesthetics, Islamic art, artistic syncretism, visual culture, calligraphy, line aesthetics, Chinese art.

The evolution of the film dance: from primitive experiments to modern interpretations

The article is devoted to a cultural analysis of the evolution of cinematic dance as a synthetic art form that arose at the intersection of choreography and cinematography and transformed in the context of media cultural changes of the XX–XXI centuries. The purpose of the study is to identify the main stages of the development of film dancing and to determine the patterns of transformation of on-screen physicality, spatial and temporal organization of movement and the role of the viewer. The methodological basis consists of historical and cultural analysis, comparative typological method, semiotic approach and media analysis. The article traces the transition from the attraction fixation of dance in early cinema to the formation of the concept of "choreography for the camera" in avant-garde practice, further mediatization through television and clip culture, as well as to the digital dematerialization of the body in terms of CGI, motion capture and online platforms. Special attention is paid to the transformation of the status of physicality from a material presence to an algorithmically constructed form, as well as to the changing role of the viewer in the context of media convergence and network culture. It is concluded that the movie dance functions as an indicator of media and cultural shifts and reflects the transition from the representation of the movement to its simulation and digital modeling. The prospects for further research are related to the development of VR dance and AI choreography, actualizing posthumanistic interpretations of screen plasticity.
Key words: film dance, screendance, screen choreography, mediatization of dance, digital dance, corporeality, editing, clip culture, virtual reality.

Integration of national and folk music into the development of cultural tourism: theoretical analysis and international experience

This narrative review systematizes the theoretical foundations and international experience of integrating national and folk music into the development of cultural tourism. The search for sources covered primarily the period 2017–2026, incorporating key theoretical concepts from the preceding period. Databases used included Web of Science, Scopus, and CNKI, as well as official reports from tourism organizations. It has been established that folk music serves as a multifunctional resource for the development of tourist destinations: it creates a unique image of a destination, helps overcome seasonal decline, and fosters long-term tourist loyalty–provided the non-tourist social context of performance practice is maintained. Conversely, the commercialization of tradition leads to a loss of authenticity and reduces the market value of the product, even for a mass audience. In our opinion, sustainable models for the integrated development of culture and tourism are achievable only with the active participation of performing communities in the management of tourism products based on their traditions.

Collective feat and ascetic labour in orthodox culture: a culturological analysis of the genesis and manifestations of the confession’s mission

The article undertakes a cultural analysis of the relationship between two closely related but methodologically distinguishable phenomena of Russian spiritual culture, namely individual asceticism and collective heroism, in the light of the tasks set by the Russian Orthodox Church as a historical and cultural denomination. The author proceeds from the assumption that the concept of heroism in the Russian mental tradition is etymologically related to the root meaning of movement, shift, and displacement, and in this sense it does not refer to a single act, but rather to a long-term effort of the spirit aimed at transforming individuals and society. It is emphasized that the cultural mission of the denomination is not to declare dogmas, but to preserve and transmit the anthropological model of a selfless human being capable of self-restraint, sacrifice, and cooperation with God.

Theater and trauma: the problem of ethical boundaries of representation

Background. Contemporary theatre increasingly addresses traumatic experiences such as war, violence, catastrophe, collective memory, and personal trauma. However, the representation of trauma in theatre inevitably raises ethical concerns related to the aestheticization of suffering, secondary traumatization, and the transformation of pain into spectacle. Purpose. To identify the specificity of ethical boundaries in the representation of trauma in theatre and to determine the key contradictions between artistic expression and ethical responsibility. Materials and methods. The study is based on trauma theory, performance theory, memory studies, and philosophical concepts of representation. Cultural, semiotic, hermeneutic, and structural methods are applied. Results. The research demonstrates that theatrical representation of trauma involves several ethical risks, including the aestheticization of violence, the spectacle of suffering, the collapse of distance between experience and observation, and the problem of representing extreme experience. Ethical boundaries depend not on the topic itself, but on the organization of theatrical form, the type of audience involvement, and the degree of reflexivity within the performance.
Key words: trauma, theatre, representation, ethics, cultural memory, performance, violence, testimony.

Theurgy of conciliarity: frescoes by M. Nesterov in the Martha and Mary Convent and N. Roerich in Talashkino in the context of the religious philosophy of the Silver Age

This article analyzes M.V. Nesterov's frescoes in the Intercession Cathedral of the Martha and Mary Convent and N.K. Roerich's murals in the Church of the Holy Spirit in Talashkino as theurgic embodiments of the Silver Age sobornost (catholicity). Drawing on the religious and philosophical concepts of Vl. Solovyov, N.A. Berdyaev, and P.A. Florensky, the article explores the transformation of the iconographic canon, the inclusion of "ordinary people" in sacred space, and the symbolism of light and color as a metaphysical code of sobornost (catholic existence). It concludes that Nesterov and Roerich's murals can be understood as theurgic embodiments of sobornost (catholicity) and artistic expressions of the spiritual unity of man and the world.
Key words: M.V. Nesterov, N.K. Roerich, church painting, Silver Age, theurgy; conciliarity, Russian cosmism.

Transformation of the cultural code “chivalry” as a source of artificial mythology in the Warhammer 40,000 media franchise

The article analyzes the transformation of the fraternal-order model of the cultural code “chivalry” in the Warhammer 40,000 media franchise, based on the early novels of The Horus Heresy cycle: Horus Rising, False Gods, and Galaxy in Flames. Chivalry is considered not as a historical reconstruction, but as a system of stable features: an elected warrior brotherhood, oath, honor, loyalty, service to a leader, initiation ritual, the right to counsel, and internal hierarchy. Through the example of the Mournival, the article shows how these elements retain a recognizable structure while changing their function within the artificial mythology of the franchise. Brotherhood becomes a mechanism of legionary loyalty; the oath becomes a means of incorporation into the military hierarchy; honor becomes a form of discipline and moral reflection; and service shifts from an abstract ideal to personal loyalty to the Warmaster. The article concludes that the artificial mythology of Warhammer 40,000 is formed through the recoding of the chivalric cultural code: traditional motifs do not disappear, but begin to operate within the logic of a dystopian science-fiction universe, serial narrative, and media franchise.
Key words: cultural code, chivalry, Warhammer 40,000, The Horus Heresy, Mournival, artificial mythology, media franchise.
