Catechesis as a social institution of orthodoxy in modern Russia
The article examines catechesis as a social institution of Orthodoxy in contemporary Russia. Sociological data record a gap between nominal and conscious religiosity. Catechesis is examined as an institution capable of playing a key role in overcoming this gap. The analysis covers the regulatory framework of the Russian Orthodox Church, within which the structural components of catechesis are outlined. The author also identifies several functions it performs, namely regulatory, socializing, transmitting, adaptive, and integrative. The paper traces the historical evolution of this institution, moving from the early Church practice of preparing pagans for Baptism to the contemporary hybrid model, in which traditional parish forms now operate alongside digital communication channels. It is concluded that catechesis is a social institution that forms a communicative basis for overcoming the gap between formal affiliation with Orthodoxy and genuine church commitment. In conclusion, directions for further empirical research are proposed.
Key words: religion, Orthodoxy, catechesis, social institution, transformation.

Philosophy of artificial intelligence
The article is devoted to the analysis of key philosophical problems arising in connection with the development of artificial intelligence systems. The issues of defining intelligence, the possibilities of machine consciousness, the relationship between syntactic information processing and semantic understanding, the moral status of autonomous systems, the distribution of responsibility for algorithmic decisions, as well as the social consequences of the introduction of AI are considered. It is concluded that the philosophy of artificial intelligence is not limited to discussing the technical effectiveness of algorithms: it affects the foundations of human subjectivity, free will, cognition, morality and law.
Artificial intelligence holds value not in and of itself, but as a product of normal human intelligence–an intelligence that does not emerge naturally but is instead shaped within an artificial social environment through a system of symbolic communication and interaction, serving as an informational counterpart to practical activity. A value-based attitude is defined by the essence of the human being and their mode of existence–one that creatively transforms the surrounding natural and social reality. An individual manifests as a subject insofar as they "act on behalf of" a social system–whether a micro-community or a macro-society; thus, a value-based attitude must be characterized as an inherently social relationship. Artificial intelligence is, therefore, merely an external semblance of a subject, its simulacrum.
Key words: artificial intelligence, consciousness, agency, intentionality, strong AI, machine learning, algorithmic accountability, digital ethics, philosophy of technology.

The evolution of the concept of virtual reality: from ontological status to epistemological dimension
The article provides a comprehensive philosophical analysis of the genesis and transformation of the «virtual reality» concept within the context of its interaction with artificial intelligence technologies. The author traces the conceptual continuity of the idea of virtuality from the Scholastic tradition (Nicholas of Cusa) to postmodern theories of simulation (J. Baudrillard, G. Deleuze). The primary focus is on identifying a gnoseological shift: the transition from interpreting the virtual environment as an ontologically incomplete copy to understanding it as an active space for the construction of new knowledge. The paper substantiates the status of artificial intelligence not merely as a technical tool, but as a cognitive agent acting as a mediator in subject-object relations. The article establishes a methodological foundation for further research into hybrid cognitive systems by introducing the categories of «algorithmic mediation» and «dynamic constructivism» into the epistemological discourse.
To achieve the research goal, a comprehensive methodological toolkit was used.
Based on the historical, philosophical, and theoretical analysis conducted in this article, it can be concluded that the conceptual field of virtual reality and artificial intelligence has undergone significant evolution, paving the way for a new epistemological paradigm. The theoretical foundation laid in this article allows us to assert that AI-driven virtual reality is evolving into a fundamental epistemological structure. It does not replace the physical world, but creates a space of "extended rationality," where the truth of knowledge begins to be determined not only by its correspondence to the object, but also by its operational effectiveness within an adaptive digital model. This opens the way to further research into the transformation of the subject and object of knowledge, as well as to the analysis of the ethical challenges that inevitably arise when human consciousness collides with autonomous algorithmic intelligence.
Key words: virtual reality, artificial intelligence, epistemology, ontology, Nicholas of Kuzan, being-possibility, simulacrum, cognitive agent, digital epistemology, methodology of cognition.

Public-private partnership: institutional trust as a factor in reducing transaction costs (using the example of Primorsky Region)
The article presents the results of a sociological analysis of the public-private partnership (PPP) problem through the prism of institutional trust theory. In the context of Russia's geoeconomic pivot to the East and the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects in the Far East, the critical barrier is not a shortage of capital, but a dysfunction of social interaction between government and business. Based on the results of a comprehensive sociological study conducted in Primorsky Krai in 2024-2025 (N = 300: a survey of 200 business representatives and 100 state and municipal employees; 20 in-depth interviews), a deep "institutional gap" was identified. It was established that the dominance of interpersonal trust over institutional trust leads to an increase in opportunistic behavior and transaction costs. A sociological and managerial model for the formation of an "ecosystem of trust" is developed, based on reducing information asymmetry and the transition from the subordination paradigm to the equal partnership paradigm.
Key words: sociology of management, public-private partnership, institutional trust, transaction costs, social capital, Primorsky Krai, government and business.

The axiological foundations of longevity
The article examines the axiological foundations of longevity as a set of value principles that determine the attitude of society, the state and the person himself to increasing life expectancy. It is proved that longevity cannot be considered solely as a biomedical or demographic indicator expressed by the number of years lived. Its content includes quality of life, functional ability, autonomy, social participation, intergenerational solidarity, personal dignity, access to care and the possibility of self-realization in old age. It is shown that modern international approaches to the problem of aging are shifting the focus from the model of passive survival to the model of active and healthy longevity based on human rights, social inclusion and respect for the older generation. Special attention is paid to WHO and UN documents, in which longevity is associated with functional ability, participation in society, protection from ageism and the creation of an age-friendly environment. It is concluded that the axiological understanding of longevity requires the coordination of medical, social, educational, labor and cultural policies aimed not only at prolonging life, but also at preserving its meaning, dignity and social usefulness.
Key words: longevity, axiology, healthy aging, active longevity, human dignity, functional ability, social participation, ageism, intergenerational solidarity, quality of life.

Communication strategies of public authorities in the digital environment: regional experience of engaging with youth
The article examines the communication strategies of public authorities in the digital environment, using interaction with young people in the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania as a case study. The purpose of the study is to identify the institutional and substantive characteristics of regional digital communication in the field of youth policy. The empirical basis of the study comprises current regulatory legal acts, materials from the official portal of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, the official website of the Committee of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania for Youth Affairs, as well as social media, analyzed as a case of regional public communication. The study finds that a basic digital infrastructure for interaction has been established in the case under examination; however, an information-oriented communication model remains dominant. The article concludes that there is a need to move from a predominantly news- and reporting-based format toward a sustainable model of feedback and youth engagement in the discussion and implementation of the regional agenda.
Key words: public authorities, digital environment, youth, youth policy, North Ossetia, digital communication.

Social cartography of homelessness in Saint-Petersburg: survival routes, points of assistance and barriers to urban navigation
The article examines the social cartography of homelessness in Saint Petersburg as a way of analyzing everyday survival routes, points of assistance and barriers to urban navigation. The focus is not only on the official infrastructure of support for homeless people, but also on how people experiencing open or hidden homelessness perceive urban space, distinguish between safe and unsafe places, remember addresses, and navigate by metro stations, railway stations, food distribution areas, warming points, and places where medical and hygiene assistance is available. The empirical basis of the article consists of semi-structured interviews with 107 respondents experiencing homelessness, conducted in Saint Petersburg in 2025. The study shows that the urban navigation of a homeless person is often structured not by the administrative map of institutions, but by a map of practical access: where one can eat, spend the night, wash, receive wound dressing, and avoid humiliation or refusal. Particular attention is paid to the role of volunteers and volunteer initiatives, which often act as intermediaries between the street environment and the institutional assistance system. The article concludes that it is necessary to develop not only assistance services themselves, but also clear low-threshold navigation that connects emergency support, volunteer accompaniment and long-term routes of resocialization.
Key words: homelessness, social cartography, urban navigation, volunteerism, volunteering, low-threshold assistance, social work, NGOs, resocialization.

Social settings of users of advertising on social networks
The article examines the social attitudes of users towards advertising on social networks as an important factor in the effectiveness of digital advertising communications. It is proved that in the context of the development of social networks, advertising is perceived not in isolation, but in the context of the platform environment, algorithmic selection of content, user comments, reviews and past experience of interacting with advertising messages. It is shown that the social attitude towards advertising includes cognitive, emotional and behavioral components: understanding the content of the message, assessing its usefulness and reliability, the level of trust or irritation, as well as the user's willingness to take specific actions such as clicking, reposting, buying, ignoring, hiding or blocking ads. Special attention is paid to the typology of user attitudes, among which the positive-pragmatic, neutral-selective, critical-repulsive and involved-communicative models of attitude to advertising are highlighted. The main factors of the formation of attitudes are considered: trust in the platform, perceived relevance of advertising content, social influence, network ratings and previous experience of interaction. It is concluded that the effectiveness of advertising on social networks is determined not only by the quality of creativity and targeting accuracy, but also by the ability of an advertising message to be perceived as an appropriate, useful and unobtrusive element of digital communication.
Key words: social media, advertising, social attitudes, digital communication, targeted advertising, user behavior, platform trust, content relevance.

Sociological analysis of social infrastructure in the context of regional development (theoretical aspect)
The article is devoted to the conceptualization of sociological approaches to regional development. At the same time, the scientific problem is determined by the need to search for new knowledge regarding the sociological indicators of the formation and development of regional infrastructure, as well as the corresponding conceptualization of existing sociological approaches to the analysis of regional development. The social, economic and institutional aspects of management decisions regarding regional development in general and the development of social infrastructure in particular are considered. Regional development is interpreted as a multifaceted process, the key goal and criterion of success of which is improving the quality of life of the population, which is inextricably linked with the condition, availability and quality of social benefits provided through the social infrastructure system. Social infrastructure is proposed to be understood as a hybrid, multi-level system of material objects and digital platforms that ensures the production and distribution of social benefits in order to improve the quality of life of the population.
The author shows that the functioning of this system is determined by the dialectical unity of the processes of extensive growth, physical deterioration and digital transformation, which generates both new opportunities and risks of social inequality. The conceptualization of sociological approaches is implemented by the author from the position of methodological pluralism. The heuristic value of functionalism, conflictology, social capital theory, institutional and systemic analysis in terms of sociological understanding of regional development and social infrastructure in particular is shown. A multidimensional research framework is proposed, where each approach compensates for the “blind spots” of the previous one. It has been proven that in modern conditions, characterized by the acceleration of social change and digitalization, the management of regional development requires further theoretical understanding and empirical research.
Key words: regional development, regional social infrastructure, sociology of management.

Client-centricity and digitalization in the civil service human resource management
The article examines the relationship between customer-centricity and digitalization as one of key factors in improving the efficiency of human resource management in the civil service. The author argues that a customer-centric approach towards internal clients – civil servants – serves not only as a strategic guideline but also as an effective mechanism for addressing current personnel challenges: staff retention, increasing motivation and loyalty, and overcoming personnel shortages. Digitalization of HR processes is considered as the instrumental basis for implementing the customer-centric approach.
Key words: civil service, human resource management, customer-centricity, digitalization, personnel management, internal client, digital transformation, competencies of civil servants.

Methods and characteristics of the influence of new social movements in Japan on domestic policy
This article examines the influence of new Japanese social movements on the country’s political dynamics, taking into account the classification of these movements into different types; it identifies instances of the specific influence exerted by these movements and their organisations, and analyses their impact on Japan’s political and socio-cultural landscape. The relevance of the topic stems from significant structural changes in both Japan’s domestic politics and the East Asian region. In this context, it is important to examine the specific characteristics of Japan’s new social movements (NSMs) in order to forecast their future influence on the country’s domestic policy and to understand the political dynamics of Japanese society. Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party is attempting to maintain its position through coalition alliances with smaller parties such as Komeito, utilising informal political institutions and social movements to preserve its political influence; however, the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (8 July 2022), against a backdrop of growing problems in Japanese society (a leadership deficit, ‘weak’ prime ministers, a deficit in civil rights), has sparked political conflict at the local level over the expansion of powers for the country’s prefectures, which disagree with Tokyo’s domestic policy course. Non-governmental organisations and associations that form part of Japan’s new social movements are analysed, followed by an assessment of their influence on the country’s domestic policy. The sample comprises more than 30 non-governmental organisations and associations, with individual actors identified as part of civil society organisations and classified into ethnic, social and gender equality movements. The analysis has shown that Japanese civil society organisations are significant actors in Japan’s political life, adapting to new conditions and influencing the formation of domestic policy. Ethnic movements and movements addressing social issues, through public protests and the use of populist methods, contribute to changes in Japanese legislation at both local and global levels. Movements for gender equality achieved significant successes in the emancipation of women in the second half of the 20th century and the first quarter of the 21st century; however, the potential for systemic change is limited due to the persistence of the traditional Confucian model within Japan’s socio-cultural environment.
Key words: social movements, Japan, public organizations, ethnicity, xenophobia, homeless, domestic policy.

Targeted education as a mechanism for the professional socialization and retention of young people in Russian railways
The article assesses targeted education at Russian Railways as a recruitment channel and an initial stage of young employees’ professional socialization. The analysis draws on current regulations, 2025 corporate reports, surveys of railway-university students (n = 353), employees (n = 190) and experts (n = 21), and separate field data from 2026. Reports show the scale of recruitment, placements and youth activities but do not link target contracts to the employment and retention of a specific graduate cohort. Independent samples show a descriptive gap between students’ expectations and employees’ assessment of career clarity; mentoring and career clarity are associated with employees’ intention to stay. The hypothesis receives partial support: guarantees and placements shape organizational entry, but the data cannot trace an individual target student’s motives through adjustment and retention. No causal effect is established.
Key words: targeted training, targeted recruitment, professional socialization, organizational adaptation, young workers, mentoring, staff retention, corporate youth policy, Russian Railways.

The pure code of being: the numerical symbolism of a fountain
This article explores the relationship between fountains and mathematics, from sacred geometry and numerical symbolism to modern technological solutions. It demonstrates how mathematical principles (the golden ratio, Fibonacci numbers, Platonic solids, and fractals) are embodied in the architecture and design of fountains, shaping their aesthetics and symbolic meaning. Particular attention is paid to numerical symbolism (the numbers 4, 8, and 12), which reflects ideas about cosmic order, cyclicality, and harmony. The historical connection between fountains and the works of famous mathematicians is traced, from Heron of Alexandria to G.W. Leibniz. Contemporary art objects at the intersection of mathematics, water, and technology are also examined, such as the Datafountain, which visualizes the dynamics of financial markets. The article demonstrates how a fountain becomes not just an engineering structure, but a "language of the gods," connecting abstract mathematical ideas with material form and cultural meanings.
Key words: fountain, mathematics, sacred geometry, golden ratio, Fibonacci numbers, numerical symbolism, Platonic solids, fractals, hydraulics, art object.

Cultural adaptation in the multilingual environment of a modern higher education institution
The article discusses modern approaches to cultural adaptation of university students, communicative adaptation, in particular, in the framework of studying subjects directly related to intercultural communication. Based on the postulates of the theory of communicative adaptation, the author hypothesizes the need to use a combination of various techniques within the framework of the methodology of blended learning of foreign languages, including the digital services of the educational platform Moodle. Distance learning tactics are considered, ways of their implementation and effectiveness are discussed, including individual services and platform tools for developing foreign-language intercultural competence in a bilingual and multilingual environment; it is concluded that it is important to improve the use of new approaches and digital tools.
Key words: intercultural communication, cultural adaptation, communicative adaptation, multilingualism, intercultural competence, blended learning, distance learning.

Specifics of the sound system of Tuvan instrumental music
The article examines the specifics of the sound system of traditional Tuvan instrumental music. It is shown that Tuvan musical tradition cannot be adequately described only through the categories of European musicology, which is mainly focused on discrete pitch, notation and tonal-functional relations. In Tuvan instrumental music, as well as in khoomei, the drone-overtone organization of sound is of primary importance: a stable fundamental tone and mobile overtones form a single acoustic complex. The article clarifies the distinction between pitch-oriented and timbre-oriented systems of musical thinking and analyzes the role of drone, overtone spectrum, acoustic turbulence, microchromatics, instrument construction and performing techniques.
Particular attention is paid to the khomus, khoomei, igil, byzaanchy and other traditional instruments, in which timbre functions not as an external coloring of a melody but as an independent structural factor. Based on field observations and analysis of traditional performance practice, the article shows that tuning a Tuvan instrument in traditional culture was understood not as correlating each string with a fixed pitch, but as achieving a unified sound of the drone-overtone complex. The conclusion is made that Tuvan instrumental music should be studied not only through musical notation, but also through phonic, ergological, acoustic and cultural-semantic parameters of sound.
Key words: Tuvan instrumental music, khoomei, bourdon, overtones, acoustic turbulence, timbre, ethnic sound ideal, igil, khomus, ethnomusicology.

The formation of natural law theories in antiquity
The article is devoted to the analysis of natural law theories in antiquity. This approach is обусловлен by the fact that, even today, the concept of natural law is, on the one hand, the most popular among researchers, and, on the other hand, it has not been sufficiently studied. There are many theories in modern philosophy of law regarding the origin of this theory. When analyzing this phenomenon, attention is drawn to the Enlightenment era, which is a tradition in scholarly research when analyzing this concept. However, it should be noted that in the era of antiquity, the first philosophical concepts included the categories of “natural law,” and this concept had a broader meaning than the concepts of the bourgeois Enlightenment era. The concepts of natural law in the Enlightenment era were shaped by the philosophy of the ancient era and were developed by the greatest philosophers, such as Plato and Aristotle.
Key words: humanistic values, human dignity, the principle of justice, mercy.

Semiotics of the celestial mediator: the image of the eagle in the Evenki mythological worldview
This article is devoted to a cultural analysis of the image of the eagle (Evenki: kiran) as a key celestial mediator in the Evenki mythological worldview. The image is viewed not as an isolated "relic of totemism," but as a multi-layered symbol functioning simultaneously within the linguistic, ritual, pictorial, and narrative codes of traditional culture. Drawing on classical ethnographic descriptions (L.Ya. Sternberg, S.M. Shirokogorov, A.F. Anisimov, G.M. Vasilevich, A.I. Mazin, S.V. Ivanov) and drawing on the semiotics of the Tartu-Moscow school, structural anthropology, morphological analysis of ritual, and contemporary anthropological theories of agency and ontologies, this article demonstrates that the eagle functions as a vertical translation operator in the Evenki worldview: it links the disparate spheres of the semiosphere—the upper world (Ugu Buga), the middle world of people (Dulin Buga), and the lower world—by translating the messages of one cosmic "language" into another. A three-level interpretation of the eagle sign (iconic, indexical, and symbolic) is proposed, and the dynamics of the semiotic refunctionalization of the image in the 20th–21st centuries are traced—from a ritual index to a symbol of ethnocultural identity.
Key words: Evenki, eagle, semiotics of culture, mediator, mythological picture of the world, shamanism, model of the world, world tree, Tungus-Manchu peoples, cultural memory.

Participatory practices in a regional art museum (based on projects by the Nizhny Tagil museum of fine arts dedicated to Pavel Golubyatnikov)
Participatory practices that engage visitors in a dialogue with art are being actively implemented in Russian art museums during the 21st century. The shift from the passive display of exhibits to participatory models is relevant for both metropolitan and regional institutions. This article examines the implementation of the research projects “Salaphiel’s Primordial Light: Pavel Golubyatnikov’s Light-Painting” and the “Salaphiel’s Primordial Light” Light-Painting Festival” at the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts. The article aims to identify participatory methods of interaction between the museum and its audience while engaging with the legacy of P.K. Golubyatnikov. Drawing on participant observation and reflexive sessions, the authors outline the specifics of engaging not only museum visitors but also the expert community (artists, scholars, and educators) in the participatory process. The study identifies effective formats for co-creation at the intersection of science and art and demonstrates the role of participation in revealing the artistic ideas of P.K. Golubyatnikov.

«Harvest fisherman's song» by composer Li Zili as one of the masterpieces of Chinese violin art: features of creation, composition, and performance
The article examines Li Zili's violin piece «Harvest Fisherman's Song» (1972), which has become part of the classical Chinese violin repertoire. The analysis is based on the piano score, audio recordings of performances, and materials from the composer's creative biography. It is established that the piece, lasting approximately six minutes, is written in a three-part form with a dynamic reprise and draws on the melodic material of the fishing song «The Catch Must Come», popular in the coastal areas of Guangdong Province. The musical fabric combines major pentatonicism, imitation of guqin playing techniques, and elements of impressionist tone painting. Four key means of national identification of the musical language are identified: modal reliance on pentatonicism, intonational quoting of the fishing song, timbral imitation of folk instruments, and rhythmic rendering of the labor processes of fishing. Five performing tasks for the violinist are defined: maintaining the fullness of timbre when working with the strokes spiccato, flying staccato, sautillé, and portato; coordination of the left and right hands in variable meters 2/4 and 3/4; conveying the imagery of the three sections of the form; reproducing imitative instrumental techniques; and building an ensemble balance with the piano part.
Key words: Li Zili, Chinese violin art, «Harvest Fisherman's Song», pentatonicism, national style, fishing song, bow stroke technique, violin repertoire.
