Thematic field of religion: theology and religious studies approaches

«Arab Spring» in the analysis of the Russian expert community

According to Russian scientists on the role of internal and external causes of the «Arab Spring» in general and Egyptian revolutions, in particular, differ quite substantially. The former see in these events an organic continuation of the democratic transition, and the later - a manifestation of the US commitment to provide its world domination. Russian political scientists have focused on the confrontation of Russia and the United States and the struggle for resources and influence in the region. At the same time, they insist on the inadmissibility of outside influence and hasty democratization, which can only bring unnecessary suffering to people in Egypt and throughout the region. They also note the importance of structural and demographic factors in the Egyptian Revolution 2011, which fully confirms the study. Their thesis about the inadmissibility of outside influence and hasty transition to democracy can be fully agreed.

Keywords: Russian political analysts, the «Arab Spring» revolution, the external factor, the US, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, the Arab world.
