Ethnical types of rationality: problem statement

This article aims to formulate the concept of ethnic types of rationality, which is more general in relation to the concept of scientific types of rationality. It is stated that the concept of scientific rationality is most often used in an unreasonably narrow sense, and the phenomenon of scientific rationality itself is a subsystem within the boundaries of a wider system of ethnic rationality in general. A theoretical extension of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis is carried out, according to which the logical structures underlying ethnic types of rationality determine and often decisively influence one or another ethnic logic of thinking, and in the ethnic language they get their fixation (consolidation), in including in the language of science of this or that type of rationality. In a special way, it is stipulated that the means of studying various types of ethnic rationality are the concepts of methodological constructs and scientific subjects that are presupposed to any activity – both at its «pre-scientific» and at the «scientific» level itself – and these concepts cover an extremely wide range of phenomena of activity and behavior. The special status of the types of rationality is emphasized – they also do not have an objective status, but they are not reduced to human subjectivity in its narrow sense, they underpin the foundations of ethnic types of cultures, and through them – that «warehouse» of thinking of people belonging to a particular cultural tradition. Speaking about the specifically, Russian culture and the Russian type of rationality, their irreducibility to the Western and Eastern groups of the «warehouse» of thought and the corresponding types of rationality is specially stipulated.

Key words: ethnic types of rationality, rationality, scientific rationality, ethnic culture, ethnic language.

Gender-based violence in modern Afghanistan: sociological diagnostics of the phenomenon

This article examines the problem of gender-based violence, that is, violence based solely or predominantly on the gender of the victim. Modern Afghanistan is considered as an example of a society subject to such phenomena. The main purpose of the analysis in this case is to prove the fact that women in Afghan society are a minority, not just directly and indirectly oppressed by gender, but under constant threat to life and health. The article discusses the current situation, as well as its historical dynamics in recent years, using relevant materials and personal observations of the author. It is concluded that in Afghanistan there are many forms of violence against women, and this violence has a specifically anti-female orientation, while the real situation is even worse than people imagine based on the information they receive from the media. Now that a group of militants and religious fundamentalists have taken control of all of Afghanistan, fears about women's rights are growing. When the Taliban took control of Afghanistan for the first time, in the 5th year of their five-year rule, they did not allow women to go out, nor did they allow them to work or study. International and US troops arrive in Afghanistan after five years of Taliban rule. Many women received education and were allowed to work during the twenty-year stay of foreign troops. However, the level of violence against women remained high. The Taliban captured Kabul again on August 15, 2021, and all but one of the provinces fell under Taliban control. Violence against women was high in Afghanistan even before the Taliban took control of the city. During the years of the previous Taliban rule, many atrocities were committed against women, which influenced the mentality of ordinary people, and they also began to commit acts of violence under this influence. Even during Republican rule, many areas were under Taliban control, and in those areas, violence against women was rampant. But neither journalists nor human rights professionals had access to these places, and no lawsuits were filed for cases of violence. Considering that the problem of women's rights in Afghanistan is very important and is the subject of numerous discussions, this study seems relevant and practically significant in terms of developing proposals for improving women's rights.

Key words: women, violence, Afghanistan, Taliban, human rights, freedom, traditional and modern discourse.
