In this study, an attempt is made to identify the creative features of the "Mighty Handful" in the context of the socio-historical situation in Russia in the 19th century in order to interpret the connotation of the musical works of the so-called "Russian Five" and the creative individualities of its representatives, who could not stay away from events and views of their time and, to the extent possible, reflected the realities of life and the values of the Russian consciousness in the mirror of their works.
