The article deals with the relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Old Believers, their attitude towards the state and government. A historical overview of the role of the Old Believers in the Russian culture is provided. There are thoughts on the role of the Old Believers as carriers of traditional culture.

St. Petersburg and the labour migration from Central Asia: challenges and contradictions

The article is devoted to the topic of migration from post-Soviet states of Central Asia to the Russian Federation. There is an attempt to consider some questions related to peculiarities of the migration process in St. Petersburg. In particular, the article examines some aspects related to the social, cultural and religious problems of labour immigrants in the city. It is stated that it is crucial for the media to be objective and impartial in the coverage of these issues.

The sacred profane: the political and ideological aspects of existence

A habitat, prevailing cultural traditions and people, society are interdependent, and therefore the principle of cooperation, a particularly stereotyped behaviour and rigorism in worldviews, fundamentalism and taboos: all these become a resource of a dialogue, convergence or confrontation. In the article, in context of philosophical and religious studies the approach «constitutive model of being» raises a problem of understanding of a man and his worldview relying on the basic concept of the so-called «religious complex», and the definition of a “person as a complex object” (system).

The ideological foundation of modern Western European neo-paganism in comparison with the mentality of classical polytheism

The article deals with the problem of cultural and religious background of modern Western Neopaganism. Its main topic is a critical analysis of some aspects of Neopaganistic self-declaration, as a strict successor of classical polytheism. The main thesis of the following  article contains the idea that modern Western Neopaganism takes fake concept of classical polytheism for real religion of historical antiquity.
